WHO WE ARE

The Orlando Youth Wind Society is committed to developing student musicians beyond the boundaries of performance, where students learn to CREATE the show, EXPAND their talents, and DEVELOP important business skills, while performing in professional level wind and chamber music ensembles.

WHAT WE PLAN TO DO

Our first goal is to create a youth symphonic wind ensemble program which blends high level wind ensemble music with technical theater and innovative staging to create a concert experience that will be creative, exciting, and captivating for both the performer and audience.  Through the program, students will:

CREATE.  We are committed to the development of the creative process, teaching students new ways of thinking.  This will be achieved by utilizing the “SEVEN LEVELS OF CHANGE,” a creative thinking process that examines every aspect of creative thought.  Students will be involved in creating a show that goes deep into and beyond the music on the page.  We will also explore how the seven levels of change can apply to any creative thought process, in business and art.

EXPAND. As part of our vision, students will be given the opportunity to learn related disciplines that will assist them in a future career in performance and entertainment.  So few musicians can make music performance a full time profession, but there are so many related careers in production and show development that could benefit from an infusion of musical talent.  Students will have the opportunity to learn about show development processes, such as directing, producing, technical design, and the business of show business.

DEVELOP. The Orlando Youth Wind Society recognizes that many student musicians do not make music a career.  As part of our program, students will learn how skills, previously developed as musicians, will help them market themselves in their future career development.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

The Orlando Youth Wind Society is a nonprofit organization and therefore relies on public support.  Most importantly, we need to spread the word of our existence. 

Please tell every musician or parent of a musician about the exciting opportunity that is about to be available to them.  Please share our facebook page with them so they can receive updates about our programs too.
